Teaching

Is this the same yoga system as taught by Sri K Pattbhi Jois ?
A/ Yes - BNS Iyengar was a student of both Sri T.Krishnamachar. Since Mr Iyengar is not running a "research establishment" he passes on his instruction intact. However minor differences exist between the current teaching of Jois and that of Mr Iyengar ( in primary an extra asana will be given ) .

Location

The Yogashala is located in Parakala Mutt a large temple next to the Jaganmohan palace art gallery. The postal address is Patanjala Yogashala, Bramatantra Parakala Mutt, Jaganmohan Palace Circle, Mysore .

Hours

The yogashala is open 6am-8am & 5pm-7pm every day except new and full days - when no tuition will be given.

Admissions

The minimum period for initial study at the Yogashala is one calendar month. In this system of asana practice the master prefers to start his instruction from the beginning. ( This is applicable no matter what the student thinks they already know ). For just as a bricklayer will lay only so many couses of a wall in one day to allow time for the mortar to cure. Mr Iyengar consciders that the time needed to teach a stable primary practice is one month.
